About Nikole Kastein Horner

Nikole Kastein Horner is the Managing Paralegal and a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional at Kinnett & Cordes. She has worked exclusively in family law since 2019 and has been an integral part of Kinnett & Cordes throughout that time, progressing from paralegal and office manager to Senior Paralegal and, ultimately, Managing Paralegal. In 2024, she became one of Colorado’s first Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals, expanding her role to provide direct legal representation to clients in certain family law matters under Colorado’s LLP rules.

As an LLP, Ms. Kastein Horner represents clients in qualifying domestic relations matters, while also drawing on more than seven years of hands-on experience working alongside family law attorneys in divorce litigation, parenting disputes, adoption matters, and child support and parental-responsibilities modifications. As Managing Paralegal, she oversees and trains the firm’s paralegals and legal assistants and plays an important role in preparing attorneys and clients for mediations, hearings, and depositions.

Ms. Kastein Horner is also deeply involved in the development of Colorado’s LLP profession. She served as Chair of the Denver Bar Association’s Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals Division from 2025–2026. She also serves as Chair of the Colorado Bar Association’s Paralegal-to-LLP Recruitment Subcommittee, where she works to promote the LLP profession and help expand pathways for experienced legal professionals to provide greater access to legal services.

A Colorado native, Ms. Kastein Horner grew up in Fort Collins and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Colorado State University, with a concentration in Criminal Justice/Criminology and a minor in Political Communication. During college, she interned in the Colorado State Senate and developed an early interest in public policy and the legislative process. After graduating, she served as a Legislative Aide and Chief of Staff in the Colorado House of Representatives, where she worked with constituents, legislators, and stakeholders and gained extensive experience in policy development and the Colorado General Assembly.

Ms. Kastein Horner brings that combination of family law experience, public-policy knowledge, and professional leadership to her work with clients. She is committed to making the legal system more accessible while providing clients with knowledgeable, practical, and compassionate guidance through challenging family law matters.

Outside of work, Ms. Kastein Horner enjoys listening to podcasts, skiing, and cheering on the Denver Broncos.
