About Jake M. Lustig

Jake M. Lustig is a Partner at Kinnett & Cordes who has dedicated his legal career to helping individuals and families navigate difficult transitions with thoughtful, practical, and compassionate representation. He has been with Kinnett & Cordes, formerly Woody Law Firm, LLC, since 2015 and became a Partner in 2020.

Mr. Lustig represents clients in divorce and family law litigation, including complex parenting and child custody disputes, post-decree modifications of child support and parental responsibilities, child support enforcement, and adoption matters. He understands that family law disputes often involve not only significant legal and financial issues, but also some of the most personal and emotionally difficult circumstances a person can face. He takes pride in helping clients understand their options, develop realistic strategies, and move forward with confidence. He is also trained in collaborative divorce, providing clients with an alternative approach when litigation is not the best path forward.

Licensed in both Colorado and Washington (inactive status), Mr. Lustig brings a perspective shaped by his roots in the Pacific Northwest and his legal career in Colorado. He was born and raised in the Seattle area and earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Washington before receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

Before attending law school, Mr. Lustig worked as a legal assistant with Arrow Law Group in Seattle. During law school, he interned with the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and Kinnett & Cordes and served as Treasurer of the Construction & Real Estate Law Society. He was also a member of the Jewish Law Students Association and the Sports & Entertainment Law Society. He remains committed to mentoring the next generation of attorneys through the University of Denver’s Professional Mentoring Program.

Mr. Lustig has received numerous awards and achievements during his career. Most notably, he has been named as a Super Lawyers Rising Star every year since 2020.

Outside of his practice, Mr. Lustig enjoys cooking, biking, and remains an enthusiastic Seattle sports fan. He resides in Denver and has recently become involved in community development efforts to promote safer streets, bicycle-friendly infrastructure, and more walkable, connected neighborhoods.
