About Dani R.S. Herman

Dani R.S. Herman is an Associate Attorney at Kinnett & Cordes, where she has been part of the firm since joining as a law student in 2023. She represents clients in Colorado family law matters, with particular experience in parenting disputes, juvenile-related matters, domestic violence and protection-order cases, same-sex dissolutions of marriage, and matters involving Spanish-speaking clients. Ms. Herman brings a unique perspective to her practice shaped by her background as an educator, her commitment to public service, and her experience advocating for children and families. She approaches each matter with thoughtful preparation, compassion, and a practical focus on helping clients navigate difficult transitions.

Ms. Herman is particularly attuned to the needs of children and families involved in high-conflict or challenging circumstances. Her five years as a Denver Public Schools teacher, combined with her legal experience involving juvenile matters and domestic violence, gives her a valuable perspective on the parenting, developmental, and family dynamics that often underlie family law disputes. She is also committed to ensuring that language is not a barrier to meaningful access to the legal system and draws on her conversational Spanish skills when working with Spanish-speaking clients.

Originally from Connecticut, Ms. Herman earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Goucher College in Baltimore in 2010, with dual minors in Political Science and Latin American Studies. After college, she spent a year in Costa Rica as an intern with the Monteverde Institute, where she further developed her conversational Spanish skills. She subsequently moved to Colorado as a member of AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, continuing her commitment to public service.

Ms. Herman went on to earn a Master of Arts in Education and Human Development from the University of Colorado Denver in 2016 and spent five years teaching with Denver Public Schools before pursuing a career in law. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in December 2024.

During law school, Ms. Herman gained experience in immigration law while interning with a local immigration firm, where she focused on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status matters and used her Spanish-language skills to assist clients. She also served as a student liaison to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Colorado Bar Association, reflecting her interest in constructive, problem-solving approaches to legal disputes.

Ms. Herman joined Kinnett & Cordes before completing law school and has continued to develop her practice within the firm since that time. Her experience working with children, her background in education, and her commitment to public service inform her approach to family law and reinforce her belief that effective advocacy begins with understanding the people behind the legal issues.

Outside of the office, Ms. Herman serves as a Board Member on the Englewood Schools Board of Education, where she remains focused on making decisions that serve students and community members best interests. She also serves as a liaison on the City of Englewood Public Library Board. In her free time, Ms. Herman enjoys traveling with her children, including her family’s annual trip to Bethany Beach, Delaware. She also enjoys learning new and occasionally obscure fun facts and experimenting with new recipes.
